Data Sources & Attribution

Every database, API and source behind the data on this site.

Everything on this site is either imported from an open data source or produced by us. This page lists every source, what it supplies, and under what terms. Nothing here is hidden — knowing where a fact came from is part of being able to trust it.

Catalogue data

SourceWhat it suppliesRefresh
IGDB Primary catalogue: game records, release dates, summaries, genres, themes, game modes, cover art, screenshots, characters, companies, franchises, engines and DLC relationships. Daily
RAWG Backfill for titles missing from IGDB, plus additional screenshots, store links and Metacritic scores. Daily
Steam PC system requirements, achievement counts, install sizes, and regional storefront pricing across 20 countries. Daily
Wikipedia & Wikidata Plot summaries, character background and development history, under CC BY-SA 4.0. Weekly
YouTube Data API Official trailer and gameplay video listings. Videos are embedded, never re-hosted. Weekly

Pricing data

SourceWhat it suppliesRefresh
CheapShark Live prices and active deals across 30+ authorised digital stores. Daily
IsThereAnyDeal Historical low prices, used to tell a genuine record low from a routine seasonal discount. Daily
Steam regional storefronts Actual local prices in PKR, INR, TRY, BRL, NGN and 15 other currencies — read from the storefront rather than converted from USD. Daily
Open exchange rate feed Currency conversion for the "approximately USD" column only. Local prices are never derived from these rates. Daily

Compatibility data

SourceWhat it suppliesRefresh
ProtonDB Steam Deck and Linux compatibility ratings, compiled from reports filed by players who ran the game through Proton. Used under the Open Database License. This is not Valve's "Steam Deck Verified" badge, which is a separate rating awarded by Valve after its own testing — the two often disagree. Every page shows the report count behind the rating and the date it was read. Rolling

Retro game data

SourceWhat it suppliesRefresh
libretro-database Emulator and cheat-device codes (Game Genie, Action Replay, GameShark and RetroArch's own format) for NES, SNES, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, Nintendo 64, Nintendo DS, Genesis, Master System, Game Gear, PlayStation and PSP games. Licensed CC BY-SA 4.0; the codes on our pages are shared under the same licence, each linked to its source file and commit. Attached to a game only when exactly one game in our catalogue has that title on that system. Not tested by us, and shown apart from our own codes. By hand
RetroAchievements Whether a retro game has an achievement set, with its achievement and point counts, read from the RetroAchievements Web API and linked back to each set. By hand

What we produce ourselves

  • Cheat codes. Compiled here from the games' own documentation, consoles and manuals — no API supplies this, and it is the reason this site exists. Each code is labelled either reported working or tested, and tested means a person here entered it on the platform listed and watched it work. The full list of tested codes is public, with dates.
  • Save file locations. Written by hand, per game and per platform. Nothing here is taken from PCGamingWiki, whose CC BY-NC-SA licence does not permit commercial use.
  • Guides and articles. Written by named authors after playing the game.
  • Parsed system requirements. Store listings publish requirements as prose; we parse them into comparable fields so a checker can use them.
  • Regional price analysis. The comparison, the ranking and the history charts.
  • Long-form game descriptions. Where a page carries an "About" section in our own words, it was written here.

Open-source software in our tools

These open-source projects are served from this site, unmodified, with their licence files beside them, and load only on the pages that need them.

The cheat troubleshooter and the gamepad tester are written here and use no library; the tester reads controllers through the browser's own Gamepad API.

Corrections to source data

When an upstream database has something wrong, we correct it here and also report it upstream so the fix benefits everyone. Locally corrected fields survive the next sync rather than being overwritten.
