A gamepad tester shows every button, trigger and stick on your controller responding live in the browser, so you can spot a dead button, a sticky trigger or a stick that does not centre. This one also records a button sequence and checks it against a GTA V cheat code, press by press, including presses that came too slowly.

Check a GTA V button sequence
Pick a code, press Start, then enter it on your controller. Each press is marked right, wrong or too
slow. The codes are the PlayStation sequences from our
GTA V cheats page; buttons are read by position, so on an
Xbox pad X is A, Circle is B, Square is X and Triangle is Y.

sequence; it cannot prove the game accepted it.
What each reading means
Buttons light up while held. Triggers are analogue, so the bar under them fills with
how far they are pressed — a trigger that never reaches full, or never returns to empty, is worn.
Sticks are drawn as a dot inside a circle, with both axes from −1 to 1. Let go and a
healthy stick settles close to 0.00. A stick that rests well away from centre is marked, because that
is what drift looks like before it shows up in a game.
Vibration can be tested where the browser supports it; the button only appears when it does.
When the tester cannot help
It reads the controller through the browser's Gamepad API, so a controller the browser does not
recognise will not appear, and a pad without a standard layout shows numbered buttons without names.
Some browsers expose fewer controllers than others; if yours does not appear, try another before
assuming the controller is at fault.

Why does the tester not see my controller?
Browsers only reveal a controller after a button is pressed while the page is open, so press any button. If it still does not appear, reconnect it, or try a different browser — support for some controllers varies between browsers.
How do I check for stick drift?
Leave both sticks untouched and watch their readings. A centred stick reads close to 0.00 on both axes. One that sits well away from zero without being touched is not returning to centre, which is what drift is.
Why do my GTA V cheat button sequences not work?
They must be pressed during gameplay, not paused, and quickly — pause for about a second and the game stops listening. The sequence check here marks any press that came too slowly, and any wrong button.
Is any data sent from this page?
