The premise, in the publisher's words

The Finals takes place about 75 years in the future, roughly around the year 2100. It is the greatest virtual game show on the planet, with a large, global fan base, and is considered a window to a bigger world outside of the real one - known as the Meatspace. How long it takes, and what that costs

The main story runs about 95 hrs. Completing everything takes closer to 1,500 hrs, roughly 15.8 times the length of the critical path.

What you need to run it

The minimum specification calls for Intel Core i5-6600K or AMD Ryzen R5 1600 processor, 12 GB RAM and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti or AMD Radeon RX 580. A 12GB memory requirement is demanding — worth checking before you buy, because 8GB is still common in older and budget machines. Both tiers are compared side by side on the requirements page, and you can check your own parts against them without installing anything.

What it launched against

The Finals launched on 7 December 2023, within three weeks of Ready or Not, Against the Storm, The Exit 8 and Buckshot Roulette. All of them reviewed better. It arrived 3 years into the PlayStation 5's life, so it was built for hardware developers already knew well.

Released around the same time: Ready or Not, Against the Storm, The Exit 8, Buckshot Roulette.
