The premise, in the publisher's words
Set a century after humanity's victory in the First Galactic War, the Federation of Super Earth harvests a valuable resource called E-710 from insectoid creatures known as Terminids across colonized worlds. When containment of the Terminids is breached, they overrun multiple planets. Simultaneously, a mechanical army called the Automatons emerges with the goal of destroying humanity. Players serve as Helldivers, elite shock troops deployed from orbit to reclaim lost territory and repel both threats in an ongoing galactic conflict shaped by the collective actions of all players.

It is played from a first person perspective. Its themes are action and science fiction. It is a single-player game with no multiplayer component. Available modes: Co-operative, Multiplayer and Single player. There are 38 achievements to unlock.
