The premise, in the publisher's words
The world of Oaken is a mythical place, existing in a not easily defined space and time. It is stretched among the branches of the Great Oak. Its inhabitants are spirits which listen to the same voice, called the Oak Song. The loss of that voice starts a series of events leading into a struggle which may either heal or destroy the Great Oak.
How it plays
It is played from a bird view / isometric perspective. Its themes are fantasy. It is a single-player game with no multiplayer component.
How it was received

What it launched against
Oaken launched on 20 July 2023, within three weeks of Baldur's Gate III, Baldur's Gate III, Overwatch and Viewfinder. All of them reviewed better. It arrived 3 years into the PlayStation 5's life, so it was built for hardware developers already knew well.
Released around the same time: Baldur's Gate III, Baldur's Gate III, Overwatch, Viewfinder.
