Night City is getting another free upgrade. Cyberpunk 2077's Update 2.5 — the Edgerunners 2 update — is rolling out now on PC (Steam, GOG and the Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with the Nintendo Switch 2 and Mac App Store versions following in the days after. It is free for everyone who owns the game, and it is a substantial one: a new dual-wielding playstyle, two new side quests, customizable hand cyberware, cross-platform mod support and a round of new graphics tech. Here is everything in the update, grounded in the official patch notes, and how to get your hands on each new piece.
Dual-wielding arrives: the Double Trouble perk
The headline feature is a brand-new playstyle. The Double Trouble perk in the Cool tree, along with four auxiliary perks, lets V dual-wield Pistols and Revolvers from the Power category — two guns at once, properly supported by the game's systems for the first time.
To start using it, invest attribute points into Cool and work down the tree toward Double Trouble. If you have an existing gun-focused build, respec or a fresh playthrough leaning into Cool is the fastest route — Pistols and Revolvers are inexpensive to find and upgrade early, so you can test the playstyle without committing your whole build. Keep an eye on Photo Mode too: the update adds new poses specifically for showing off your dual-wielding prowess.
Two new side quests, and how to unlock them
Update 2.5 adds two quests with clear unlock conditions:
- Clampdown — a new side quest set before the events of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2. To unlock it, complete the main quest The Heist and two gigs for Wakako, then wait for a message from her. Completing Clampdown earns you a new five-piece gear set based on the character King from the anime.
- Welcome to Paradise — a new side quest that takes you on a guided tour of Night City narrated by Richard Night himself, uncovering a mystery along the way. It unlocks after completing The Heist and reaching Street Cred level 15.
If you are returning to the game for the update, the fastest prep is simple: push through The Heist if you have not already, grind Street Cred to 15 (NCPD scanner hustles are the quickest way), and keep an eye on your messages after finishing two of Wakako's gigs.
Twelve Minor Arcana tarot cards to find
The tarot hunt gets bigger. Twelve new Minor Arcana cards are scattered across Night City, and the Tarot menu now has separate sections for Major and Minor Arcana. Scanning any one of the new cards starts an extension of the Fool on the Hill side quest — collect all twelve and you earn a special reward. Like the original tarot quest, this is pure exploration gameplay: no combat build required, just thorough eyes.
Customize your hand cyberware at the new Glamdocs
One of the most-requested cosmetic features is finally here. Equip your Mantis Blades, Gorilla Arms, Monowire or Projectile Launch System, then visit one of five new Glamdocs — they are marked with a spray-paint icon on the map. Each Glamdoc sits in a unique shop with its own intro scene, voiceover and animations, and offers a unique catalog of cyberware skins with customizable colors. Your chrome can finally look as loud as you want it to.
Mods come to consoles
This is the update's biggest long-term change. Cross-platform mod support, powered by mod.io, lets you browse and install a selection of player-created mods directly from the in-game menu — no external tools, no file digging. It works on PC, Mac, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2, with more mods becoming available over time. CD PROJEKT RED describes it as a first step into cross-platform modding, so expect the catalog to grow.
Two things to know before you switch it on: saves made with mods are marked with a dedicated icon in the Load Game menu, and achievements and trophies cannot be earned while playing on console from a modded save. If you are trophy hunting on PlayStation or achievement hunting on Xbox, keep a clean save separate from your modded one.
The tech upgrades: DLSS 4.5, FOV slider and more
For PC players chasing image quality and frame rates, 2.5 is a meaningful update:
- DLSS 4.5 support, including up to 6X Multi Frame Generation (or Dynamic Multi Frame Generation) and the second-generation Transformer model. Update your GPU drivers alongside the game patch to use it — our breakdown of DLSS vs FSR vs XeSS explains what the different upscaling options actually do.
- AMD FSR reshuffle — FSR 3 upscaling is no longer included, while FSR 2.1, FSR 4 and FSR 3.1 Frame Generation remain available. There is also a new settings toggle for FSR Anti-Lag 2.
- FOV slider on consoles — long requested, finally in.
- Improved HDR rendering for more accurate colors, brightness and contrast on compatible displays, plus various performance optimizations including improvements specifically for ray tracing and for PlayStation 5 Pro.
- Niche but notable: support for glasses-free 3D effects on compatible Samsung Odyssey 3D monitors (with a Motion Comfort setting), and MetalFX Frame Interpolation for Mac players.
Show off: outfits, hair and Photo Mode
Fashion is endgame in Night City, and 2.5 delivers. Five new outfit sets are available from clothing vendors — Maxiwear (Heywood, Arroyo, Little China), Jinguji (City Center), NetWatch (Kabuki, Japantown) and IconAmerica (Pacifica, Badlands, Northside), with one more set arriving a little later. The NUS Infiltrator set can be bought from clothing vendors in Kabuki and Japantown. Several hairstyles previously exclusive to NPCs are now available for V, though some are restricted to feminine or masculine body types.
Rounding it out: a new radio station, HKGN 102.0 FM, playing tracks from the Edgerunners series; four TWINTONE skins for the Quadra Turbo-R V-Tech available via Twitch Drops; and new Photo Mode frames from the Cyberpunk Trading Card Game so your screenshots look like custom cards.
Quality of life worth knowing about
Smaller changes that make daily play smoother: saves in the Load Game menu are now grouped by separate playthroughs, so juggling multiple Vs is finally tidy; item filters have been added to apartment and vehicle stashes; and as noted above, modded saves get their own icon. The patch also fixes a long list of bugs — including HDR settings doing nothing on PS5, the stuck Delamain cab in Things Done Changed, and film grain having no effect.

Before you update
A short checklist so the patch does not catch you out: make sure you have free disk space for the download; back up your saves (or at least let cloud sync finish) before the patch lands; finish The Heist and push Street Cred toward 15 if you want the new quests immediately; update your GPU drivers to use DLSS 4.5; and decide whether to keep a mod-free save if you care about achievements or trophies. With Edgerunners season 2 streaming now, there has rarely been a better excuse to head back to Night City.
