What Wick is
Wick is an adventure game developed by Hellbent Games and released in 2015. It is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Linux, Mac and PC (Microsoft Windows). It runs on Unity.
The premise, in the publisher's words
Deep in the darkness you sense you are not alone. But will you live to tell the story? Navigate the darkness by candlelight but be sure to keep track of the candles you find. You'll need to stay in the light to keep your fear at bay-- and there is plenty to be scared of. You'll soon discover you're not alone. Come face to face with a variety of enemies then learn what it takes to evade each one, or die trying.
How it plays
Its themes are action, horror and survival. It is a single-player game with no multiplayer component. There are 37 achievements to unlock.
How it was received
Wick holds a critic score of 76 out of 100. That places it above 54% of the 7,525 rated adventure games in our database, which average 72. Games released in 2015 averaged 69, so it scored 7 points above the year average.
What you need to run it
The minimum specification calls for 2.0 GHz Dual Core CPU, 2 GB RAM and 512 MB NVIDIA GeForce 9800GTX / ATI Radeon HD 3xxx series. At 2GB of RAM, it will run on essentially any working PC — that is below what a budget laptop ships with today. Install size is roughly 1GB. Both tiers are compared side by side on the requirements page, and you can check your own parts against them without installing anything.
What it launched against
Wick launched on 17 December 2015, within three weeks of Just Cause 3, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, Rainbow Six Siege and Pony Island. It reviewed better than 2 of the 4. It arrived 2 years into the PlayStation 4's life, so it was built for hardware developers already knew well.
Released around the same time: Just Cause 3, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, Rainbow Six Siege, Pony Island.
