What Under a Desert Sun is
Under a Desert Sun was released in 2025. It is available on PC (Microsoft Windows) only.
The premise, in the publisher's words
Dark Sun: Shattered Lands is a turn-based role-playing video game that takes place in the Dungeons & Dragons campaign setting of Dark Sun. It was developed and published by Strategic Simulations in 1993. It received positive reviews although released initially in an unfinished state. The game had a sequel, Dark Sun: Wake of the Ravager, in 1994. An online MMORPG taking place in the same setting, Dark Sun Online: Crimson Sands, was released in 1996 and hosted on the Total Entertainment Network.
How it plays
Its themes are action. It is a single-player game with no multiplayer component.
What you need to run it
The minimum specification calls for I5 @ 3,5GHz, 32 GB RAM and NVidia 2070 RTX or equivelant. A 32GB memory requirement is demanding — worth checking before you buy, because 8GB is still common in older and budget machines. Install size is roughly 12GB. Both tiers are compared side by side on the requirements page, and you can check your own parts against them without installing anything.
What it launched against
Under a Desert Sun launched on 10 March 2025, within three weeks of Inzoi, Assassin's Creed Shadows, Avowed and Split Fiction.
Released around the same time: Inzoi, Assassin's Creed Shadows, Avowed, Split Fiction.
