The premise, in the publisher's words
The Passive Voice is a short, interactive visual poem and a video game that explores the struggle of my own lived experience with dyslexia and dyspraxia. The main player character is a bouncing eyeball. It acts as a clumsy and voiceless avatar that progresses through and around an ancient woodland representing a dark night of the soul, reminiscing, though stylised cutscenes, about difficult past traumas and the often-overlooked difficulties that neurodivergent people face daily.
How it plays
It is played from a first person perspective. Its themes are historical and horror. It is a single-player game with no multiplayer component.
What it launched against
The Passive Voice launched on 25 July 2021, within three weeks of The Forgotten City, Death's Door, Black Book and Final Fantasy.
Released around the same time: The Forgotten City, Death's Door, Black Book, Final Fantasy.
