The Occupation is an adventure developed by White Paper Games, released 5 March 2019 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC (Microsoft Windows).
What The Occupation is
The Occupation is an adventure game developed by White Paper Games and released in 2019. It was published by Humble Bundle. It is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC (Microsoft Windows). It runs on Unreal Engine 4.
The premise, in the publisher's words
An attack has left 23 dead & has become a catalyst for the creation of The Union Act, a controversial act which threatens the civil liberties of the British population. The next 4 hours will determine the outcome of the act and the future of the country. Events happen in real-time and you must make decisions based on the evidence surrounding you. Is the cost of an extreme action outweighed by the cause of the greater good? You are the reporter. You decide the narrative.
How it plays
It is played from a first person perspective. Its themes are mystery, stealth and thriller. It is a single-player game with no multiplayer component. There are 15 achievements to unlock.
How it was received
The Occupation holds a critic score of 70 out of 100. That places it above 33% of the 7,525 rated adventure games in our database, which average 72. Games released in 2019 averaged 69, so it scored about average for its year.
What you need to run it
The minimum specification calls for 2.2+ Ghz Dual-Core, 4 GB RAM and NVIDIA Geforce GTX 560 or equivalent. At 4GB of RAM, it will run on essentially any working PC — that is below what a budget laptop ships with today. Install size is roughly 7GB. Both tiers are compared side by side on the requirements page, and you can check your own parts against them without installing anything.
What it launched against
The Occupation launched on 5 March 2019, within three weeks of Metro Exodus, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, Devil May Cry 5 and Anthem. It reviewed better than 1 of the 4. It arrived 6 years into the PlayStation 4's life, so it was built for hardware developers already knew well.
Released around the same time: Metro Exodus, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, Devil May Cry 5, Anthem.
