Quick answers
The Alters on Steam Deck
Does The Alters work on Steam Deck?
Runs perfectly once some tweaks are applied, according to 188 community reports on ProtonDB.
Is this the same as Steam Deck Verified?
No, and the two often disagree. "Steam Deck Verified" is Valve's own badge, awarded after Valve tests a game against its own checklist. The rating on this page is ProtonDB's, which is built from reports filed by players running the game through Proton. A game can be rated Gold by the community and still not carry Valve's badge, and the reverse happens too.
Can this rating change?
Yes, and it does. Proton is updated regularly and so are games, so a title that was Bronze a year ago may be Gold now. This page shows the date the rating was read so you can judge how current it is.
Why is the best reported rating different?
The overall rating weighs recent reports across many setups. The best reported rating is the highest any single player achieved, usually after tweaking launch options or Proton version. It tells you what is possible, not what to expect by default.
