Sonic Islands is an open zone fan-game inspired by the Sonic Frontiers game. Sonic and his friends need to help the Guardian of the Aurora Islands defeat a greater evil being that has been taking over the now destroyed civilization of Aurora for years.

It is played from a third person perspective. Its themes are action. It is a single-player game with no multiplayer component.
