What you need to run it
The minimum specification calls for Intel Core i5-4460 (3.40 GHz) or better; Quad-core or better, 4 GB RAM and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 Ti or better (DirectX 11 card & VRAM 2GB Required). At 4GB of RAM, it will run on essentially any working PC — that is below what a budget laptop ships with today. It also needs around 100GB of free storage, which is a real consideration on a 512GB drive. Both tiers are compared side by side on the requirements page, and you can check your own parts against them without installing anything.
What it launched against
Shenmue III launched on 19 November 2019, within three weeks of Death Stranding, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Persona 5 Royal and Luigi's Mansion 3. All of them reviewed better. It arrived 6 years into the PlayStation 4's life, so it was built for hardware developers already knew well.
Released around the same time: Death Stranding, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Persona 5 Royal, Luigi's Mansion 3.
