What Rootbound is
Rootbound is an unreleased adventure game in development at Brainlag Games, currently scheduled for 31 December 2026. It is available on PC (Microsoft Windows) only.
The premise, in the publisher's words
A physics-based action adventure about a plantling’s quest to save its home from a mysterious blight. Equipped with your sentient backpack, you venture into a broken world. Meet lost souls, solve ancient puzzles, fight dangerous monsters, and uncover the secrets of a long-forgotten civilization.
How it plays
It is played from a bird view / isometric perspective. Its themes are action. It is a single-player game with no multiplayer component.
What you need to run it
The minimum specification calls for 6 Core CPU with 2.7GHz, 8 GB RAM and DirectX 12 GPU. An 8GB memory requirement is modest by current standards; most machines sold in the last five years clear it. Install size is roughly 10GB. Both tiers are compared side by side on the requirements page, and you can check your own parts against them without installing anything.
