Once every three hundred years, an eclipse called the Rise of Morastrum sweeps the world, and every child born that year is fated to die save one, the Child of Destiny, who is granted extraordinary power. In ages past this figure has been both a world-conquering tyrant and a savior who toppled him. As the eclipse comes again, people across the land begin searching for the newest Child of Destiny to learn whether salvation or ruin awaits. Eight interconnected heroes, from a bold swordsman to a young marquis and a fledgling merchant, set out on their own journeys and are drawn into this fateful search.
