The game takes place over a period of at least six months from December 2012 to June 2013, over fifteen years after the US Government's destruction of Raccoon City, and takes place in various places around the world.

It is played from a third person perspective. Its themes are action, horror, stealth and survival. It is a single-player game with no multiplayer component. Available modes: Co-operative, Multiplayer and Single player. There are 70 achievements to unlock.
