Quake

The government has been experimenting with teleportation technology, developing a working prototype called the Slipgate, when a mysterious enemy code-named "Quake" hijacks the device by linking it to its own teleportation system. Using this connection, Quake sends deadly death squads into the human dimension to probe humanity's ability to fight back. The player takes the role of a lone soldier known only as Ranger, the sole survivor of a doomed counteroffensive, who must plunge through the Slipgate and into hostile otherworldly realms.
