What Prodeus is
Prodeus is an adventure game developed by Bounding Box Software and released in 2022. It was published by Humble Bundle. It is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Mac and PC (Microsoft Windows). It runs on Unity.
The premise, in the publisher's words
In Prodeus, the players slip into the role of a corrupted agent of Prodeus who is determined on his way to destroy his creator and every opponent.
How it plays
It is played from a first person perspective. Its themes are action, horror and science fiction. It is a single-player game with no multiplayer component. Available modes: Co-operative, Multiplayer and Single player. There are 30 achievements to unlock.
How it was received
Prodeus holds a critic score of 85 out of 100. That places it above 82% of the 7,525 rated adventure games in our database, which average 72. Games released in 2022 averaged 74, so it scored 11 points above the year average.
What you need to run it
The minimum specification calls for CPU @ 2+ GHz, 4 cores, 2 GB RAM and NVidia GTX 580 or AMD HD 7870. At 2GB of RAM, it will run on essentially any working PC — that is below what a budget laptop ships with today. Install size is roughly 4GB. Both tiers are compared side by side on the requirements page, and you can check your own parts against them without installing anything.
What it launched against
Prodeus launched on 23 September 2022, within three weeks of The Last of Us Part I, Scorn, Return to Monkey Island and The Case of the Golden Idol. It reviewed better than 2 of the 4. It arrived 2 years into the PlayStation 5's life, so it was built for hardware developers already knew well.
Released around the same time: The Last of Us Part I, Scorn, Return to Monkey Island, The Case of the Golden Idol.
