The premise, in the publisher's words
Ookeenga's story begins in an ancient forest called Glaik (Sacred Forest - in bug language), where bugs live. In the center of the forest is the Khoom (Source Tree), the ancient tree that powers the whole forest. After the disaster known as Ookeenga (Orange Smoke), the beetle population split into two factions: Akhah (Purebred Bugs) and Ahika (Hybrid Bugs). The Akhah faction, who consider themselves pureblood aristocracy, under the leadership of Amoik (Holy Bug), drove the Ahika faction, the half-bloods, out of the Sacred Forest and monopolized the source of Oom (energy of the Source Tree).
