What Never Sort By Color is
Never Sort By Color is an unreleased indie game in development at Bryan Livingston, currently scheduled for 10 November 2026. It is available on Linux and PC (Microsoft Windows).
The premise, in the publisher's words
Never Sort By Color is a first-person zen organization game where you use magnet gloves, part detection, sieves, and quick hotkey tossing to sort an enormous pile of plastic bricks into a labeled workshop. Instead of sorting by color, you sort by part type, rebuilding drawers and organizing bays as the floor area opens up. As you complete categories, instruction books guide you to pull exact parts from the right drawers to assemble MOCs that snap together brick by brick, turning the quiet sorting loop into satisfying, functional model building.
How it plays
It is played from a first person perspective. It is a single-player game with no multiplayer component.
What you need to run it
The minimum specification calls for Quad-core x64 with SSE4.2 (Intel Core i3-6100 / AMD Ryzen 3 1200), 8 GB RAM and DirectX 12-capable GPU with compute shader support, 2 GB VRAM (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 / AMD Radeon RX 460 / Intel UHD 620). An 8GB memory requirement is modest by current standards; most machines sold in the last five years clear it. Install size is roughly 1GB.
