What Dead by Daylight is
Dead by Daylight is a strategy game developed by Behaviour Interactive and released in 2016. It was published by 505 Games. It is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Android, Google Stadia, iOS and PC (Microsoft Windows). It runs on Unreal Engine 4.
The premise, in the publisher's words
Survivors play in third-person and have the advantage of better situational awareness. The Killer plays in first-person and is more focused on their prey. The Survivors' goal in each encounter is to escape the Killing Ground without getting caught by the Killer - something that sounds easier than it is, especially when the environment changes every time you play.
How it plays
It is played from a first person perspective. Its themes are action, horror, stealth and survival. It supports multiplayer for up to 4 players online. Available modes: Co-operative, Multiplayer and Single player. There are 303 achievements to unlock.

How long it takes, and what that costs
The main story runs about 255.5 hrs. Completing everything takes closer to 506 hrs, roughly 2 times the length of the critical path.
What you need to run it
The minimum specification calls for Intel Core i3-4170 or AMD FX-8120, 8 GB RAM and DX11 Compatible GeForce GTX 460 1GB or AMD HD 6850 1GB. An 8GB memory requirement is modest by current standards; most machines sold in the last five years clear it. Install size is roughly 50GB. Both tiers are compared side by side on the requirements page, and you can check your own parts against them without installing anything.
