What Dangerous Golf is
Dangerous Golf is an arcade game developed by Three Fields Entertainment and released in 2016. It is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC (Microsoft Windows). It runs on Unreal Engine 4.
The premise, in the publisher's words
Have a burning desire to change the way you play golf? Then here’s a smashing way to lower your handicap. Mixing arcade styling with humorous irreverence, Dangerous Golf’s aim isn’t for the likes of a Par or Birdie – but to cause maximum damage over 100 holes and four rather… unusual locations.
How it plays
It is played from a third person perspective. Its themes are action and sandbox. It supports multiplayer for up to 8 players online. Local play supports 8 players. Available modes: Co-operative, Multiplayer and Single player. There are 55 achievements to unlock.
How it was received
Dangerous Golf holds a critic score of 54 out of 100. That places it above 13% of the 2,164 rated arcade games in our database, which average 70. Games released in 2016 averaged 68, so it scored 14 points below the year average.
What you need to run it
The minimum specification calls for Intel i5 3.2GHz / AMD FX 8350, 8 GB RAM and nVidia GTX 750ti / AMD Radeon R7 265. An 8GB memory requirement is modest by current standards; most machines sold in the last five years clear it. Install size is roughly 6GB. Both tiers are compared side by side on the requirements page, and you can check your own parts against them without installing anything.
What it launched against
Dangerous Golf launched on 3 June 2016, within three weeks of Mirror's Edge Catalyst, Overwatch, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Blood and Wine and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Blood and Wine. All of them reviewed better. It arrived 3 years into the PlayStation 4's life, so it was built for hardware developers already knew well.
Released around the same time: Mirror's Edge Catalyst, Overwatch, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Blood and Wine, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Blood and Wine.
