The premise, in the publisher's words
Come inhabit an exotic world and chisel through layers of thousand-year-old civilizations. Decide: is it a dying earth, or is it on the verge of rebirth? Play the role of a mutant indigenous to the salt-spangled dunes and jungles of Qud, or play a pure-strain descendant from one of the few remaining eco-domes - the toxic arboreta of Ekuemekiyye, the Holy City; the ice-sheathed arcology of Ibul; or the crustal mortars of Yawningmoon. Follow the plot to Barathrum the Old, a sentient cave bear who leads a sect of tinkers intent on restoring technological splendor to Qud. There’s a story in every nook, from legendary items with fabled pasts to in-game history books written by plant historians…

What you need to run it
The minimum specification calls for 1GHz or faster. SSE2 instruction set support., 4 GB RAM and Graphics card: DX10, DX11, DX12 capable. At 4GB of RAM, it will run on essentially any working PC — that is below what a budget laptop ships with today. Install size is roughly 2GB.

What it launched against
Caves of Qud launched on 5 December 2024, within three weeks of Delta Force, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, Marvel Rivals and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. It reviewed better than all of them. It arrived 7 years into the Nintendo Switch's life, so it was built for hardware developers already knew well.

Makes you nearly unkillable: no HP loss, full hydration, penetrating attacks kill instantly, walk through walls, and never get lost
