The premise, in the publisher's words
The universe in which your character exists is very, or almost, identical to the real world (= same date as IRL), with two exceptions: The anomalous exists. England as a country does not exist. The Disappearance of England: This may have been learned by your character in school, but in the year 1066, Ireland took advantage of a war England was fighting on another front to reclaim territory. This gradually led to England’s defeat and the recovery of its lands by Ireland, which would later be known as the Kingdom of Ireland.
