Live Update 1.42.0

Raiders! Update 1.42.0 is live right now and with it a number of fixes, a second part of the Phantom Targets event with the Anomalia Outfit, a new Player Project, improved map condition scheduling, and new Twitch drops. HIGHLIGHTSPhantom Targets Event & Phantom Targets Part 2 Raider ProjectThe Tick Hunter Set is now availableImproved Regional Map Condition ScheduleAn Update on Anti-Cheat and Fair PlayNew Twitch Drops (Car Freshener & Ceramic Vase)Rubber Duck Competition Winners Phantom Targets RevealedThanks to the assistance of many Raiders, Shani finally pinpointed the source of the phantom targets: erratic Wasps. These ARC units are exhibiting behavior she’s never seen before: emitting strange noises, flying in irregular patterns, and carrying unidentifiable tech. They’re all swarming towards one location. She needs further assistance to understand what’s waiting for them there.Improvements to Map Condition Scheduling We have been working to make sure that the way we schedule Map Conditions is aligned with your playing habits. To that end, we’re introducing Regional Map Condition Scheduling. Starting with 1.42.0, Map Conditions will have their schedule offset based on regions, instead of a single, global schedule. This means that the schedule will shift to fit specific regions' peak hours to better match your experience. This way, it’ll be less likely to miss out on a map condition regardless of where you are. Don’t hesitate to tell us how Regional Map Condition schedules are working by chatting with us on our Discord! We’re eager to see what everyone’s experience is like and make adjustments accordingly. Note: the Map Condition tracker on the website now reflects this change.Following up about Fair Play It’s time to look at what’s been going on in the realm of Fair Play since our last chat a few weeks back. Some new (and some recurring) topics have crossed our path since then, and we wanted to reassure you that keeping Topside safe against cheaters and exploits is a top priority for us, and will continue to be so.A Note on Third Party SoftwareWhen we see reports of third party software being used to gain an advantage of any kind, in-game or at account level, we investigate. The first and most important step is to verify the validity of the report and whether or not the software actually does what it claims to do. A lot of the time, claims are just that, and interacting with this kind of software carries a large amount of risk. Be aware that downloading unverified and unofficial software can put more than just your account at risk. Beyond getting banned and losing access to the game, your data and personal information could be exposed. Remember that your account is only as secure as its weakest link. In order to protect your account, your purchases and progression, we strongly recommend making sure 2FA or passkeys are enabled on all external accounts connected to your Embark ID. Oh, and never share your credentials with anyone. No matter how many ducks they offer.Recent Actions & Future PlansOver the past few weeks, we have been making several improvements alongside Anybrain and Denuvo Anti-Cheat. This has resulted in swift action being taken against a large number of accounts that were using recently popularized cheating software. There is also the matter of ensuring permanent sanctions for serial, blatant cheaters. We continue working on methods that make it more difficult for new accounts to be obtained and that discourage cheaters from returning. There have been compounding improvements in our ability to also detect accounts that participated in what we classify as “economy exploits”, which means we can more quickly sanction offenders. These types of sanctions have been ongoing. Additionally, we have several simultaneous initiatives that are meant to address teaming and general matchmaking abuse. We know how important having a consistently good experience is, and that in certain regions or at certain times, it’s easier to run into groups of players that try to force their way into lobbies and engage in griefing. We’ll share more when all of these are ready. And that’s, of course, not all. We’ll keep building up all of the initiatives we mentioned and we’ll do our best to make sure that your experiences across the Rust Belt are fun, thrilling, and most importantly fair. Congratulations to the Winners of the Rubber Duck Design Contest!Last Thursday, the 3 finalists of the Rubber Duck Design Contest were selected via popular vote on our Discord. We have since begun working on bringing the ducks into the game, and we will add them in a future update! Soon enough, you’ll be able to fill your Raider Den with ducks made by the super-talented gekko.rar, im_AshCheeks and nassguhl.Content and Bug FixesAudioRefined footstep and movement sounds indoors: removed scuff sounds, improved audibility at distance, and updated occlusion and concrete surface cues.Improved footstep audio when moving through foliage for clearer, more natural sound.Added unique footstep sounds when moving over plastic cloth and tarp surfaces.Added different audio for all Tier 3 magazine upgrades firing sounds. GameplayThe Snitch can now call in a Rocketeer. Additionally, it can also call in a Firefly and Hornet duo. Snitch Scanners should not be affected by this change.Fixed stomp attacks from the Queen and Matriarch sometimes hitting through walls or from much farther away than intended. The Photoelectric Cloak now works against Turbine lightning attacks and Matriarch missiles.Added spawn protection to the Surge Coil Trap to avoid affecting players as they spawn in.Added the ability to rebind Quick Wheel slots. The Dolabra, Hullcracker and Rascal now deal damage correctly in the Practice Range.MapFixed an issue where a zip line in Buried City couldn’t be interacted with by repositioning it to ensure it can be used.PerformanceImproved UI texture streaming cache for better memory efficiency and reliability.  StabilityFixed ...

Live Update 1.39.0

Greetings Raiders! Live Update 1.39.0 is going out right now, bringing various game fixes, changes & additional updates to the Matchmaking System. The Seeker & Wolfpack should no longer deal inconsistent damage and trinkets previously added in 1.33.0 can now stack! Additionally, you can find the new Dweller Outfit in the store. Matchmaking Update: Testing Defensive PvPOver the past months, improving matchmaking has been one of our top priorities. We’ve introduced various adjustments and improvements based on your feedback & requests. Since our Notes on The Matchmaking System, one change has stood out with the community: defending yourself is no longer treated the same as starting a fight. It meant self-defense still counted toward your playstyle estimate, but with much less weight than starting a fight. Your feedback was positive, and many of you have asked us to take it further. The most common follow-up request we've seen is to remove the impact of Defensive PvP entirely - going from reduced weight to none at all. Starting now, we're testing exactly that. During the test, only the fights you choose to start will influence your playstyle estimate, and defending yourself won't affect it at all. This includes knocking out enemies who attacked you first. So what counts as starting a fight, and what counts as defending yourself? Here's how the system reads an encounter:Who's defending: If the other squad damages, downs, or knocks out any of your squadmates first, your whole squad counts as defending - the squad that strikes first is the one that started the fight. How it's weighed: The more serious the encounter, the more it counts. A drawn-out firefight - with more damage dealt and raiders downed - weighs heavily, while a stray accidental hit or a brief exchange where the other squad flees after minimal damage still counts as starting a fight but weighs far less.Third-partying: Jumping into a fight between other squads that's already underway counts as starting a fight, too.Over the coming weeks we'll monitor our matchmaking metrics, watch how PvP develops Topside, and gather your feedback. Matchmaking Changes: Follow-upTwo earlier changes are also still live: the Solo, Duo, and Trio matchmaking tracking from 1.36.0 and the matchmaking optimization adjustments from 1.38.0. We're keeping a close watch on how both perform, but telemetry only tells us half the story - to get the full picture, we need to hear how your matches actually feel. The latest matchmaking survey covers all of this, so take a minute to fill it out - your input is the other half, and it's what turns our data into better decisions. Thank you, Raiders! Reminder - ARC Raiders & THE FINALS Crossover Raiders & Contestants, don’t forget! You’ve got until July 30th at 3PM CEST to complete the required Contracts in THE FINALS and earn the Azimuth outfit & the Archaeologist Backpack bundle in ARC Raiders.Afterwards, we’re back to the Rust Belt! You’ll be able to earn the Azimuth bundle in THE FINALS by heading Topside and playing ARC Raiders. Bug Fixes & Content UpdatesAudioImproved footstep audio in water.Added more distinct Dodge Roll sounds and variations.Adjusted ambient audio for certain cinematics.CosmeticsFixed mislabeled customization toggles for the Blindspot Set. “No Headset” now controls the headset on Blindspot.Updated customization toggles: The Triumph Set now uses Helmet Only; The Scorta Set now uses Gauntlet Off.Updated Scorta outfit color names in the UI to better match the actual colors.Fixed a missing UI string for a blue backpack cosmetic.GameplayFixed inconsistent damage for Seeker Grenade and Wolfpack Grenade.ItemsFixed an issue where the Train model could appear in two places in the Raider Den when only one was owned.Trinkets introduced alongside the Converging Paths project now stack similarly to other trinkets, and their drops have been adjusted for more consistent looting across maps.MapFixed multiple clipping issues, floating props, landscape holes, and spots where players could get stuck on Dam Battlegrounds.Fixed multiple collision and clipping issues on Buried City (including invisible obstacles), corrected materials, and resolved a spot where downed players could get stuck near an overpass.Closed a hole in Buried City that allowed using the Snap Hook to go out of bounds.StabilityFixed an issue that could cause players to get stuck in the End of Round tunnel after leaving a map.Fixed a startup crash that could occur after the photosensitive warning screen.UIPolished UI text and updated localization across supported languages.Fixed an issue where item prices over 10,000 were shown with incorrect shorthand in the Trader tab when using Japanese or Simplified Chinese.Updated localization for Trinket names and ARC terminology across menus.Updated the start screen with a new looping background video.Fixed an issue where pressing L3 on gamepad wouldn’t toggle the item tooltip on Ermal’s Select Items screen, and added a background blur to improve readability.Updated Projects list and screens to group related Projects for easier browsing.Updated Project UI: corrected text, improved previews for multi‑phase projects, and projects now unlock after playing 5 rounds. Fixed an issue with background visuals updating incorrectlyFixed an issue where Projects could fail to advance to the next step after completing a goal, even after contributing the required items. The Projects Tab has been improved with added quest & step descriptions, more consistent text and reward tiles and restored navigation so completed stages can be reviewed after finishing a project.Fixed an issue where the Trophy Display Raider Project rewards preview showed a duplicate "Howl" Emote.Improved Expedition and Project UI: grouped projects only appear when at least one is active, fixed top bar navigation, and corrected Expedition step display.Standardized the timer display across Project and Expedition screens for clearer countdowns. Store Update 1.38.0

Howdy Raiders! Store Update 1.38.0 is going live right now on all platforms. We’re bringing two new colors for the Torpedo set (Camo & Black), which you will receive automatically if you own the outfit. Same as before, you do not need to restart the game. The Expedition Departure is happening today as well! Good luck to everyone getting a fresh start. For those of you on your Fourth Expedition, we want to know which Mystery Rewards you’ve received! Need a reminder on how the Expedition works and what to expect? Here's our latest Expedition article. Matchmaking OptimizationWe've heard your feedback on matchmaking. It works well most of the time, but there is room for improvement — especially during low-population hours, in certain regions, or in specific map conditions. We’re working to improve those cases. Starting today, we'll be testing adjustments to our matchmaking algorithm aimed at improving the quality of your matches. One thing to note: the algorithm may take a little longer to find a match, since it's now working harder to find you a better one. What does this mean for you? You should run into squads that match your playstyle and squad size even more consistently, making for more fair and enjoyable raids. As always, we'll be keeping a close eye on our matchmaking metrics and your feedback. We'll review these adjustments shortly and share where things land. Thanks for helping us make the matchmaking experience better for everyone. For more details on how our matchmaking system works, check out our earlier deep-dive. See you Topside, //Raz

Expedition Departure Issue Update

Look out, Raiders! We have an update regarding the Expedition-related issue where you could automatically be signed up for Departure if you had completed the associated Damage Challenge. We want to err on the side of caution. We will revert the Departure sign-up for players whose sign-up behavior appears representative of this issue. This may be done in several waves, starting tomorrow, July 17 11:00 AM CEST. Throughout the weekend, please make sure to check the in-game Expedition tab and verify that it shows the correct information for your case. If you had previously been signed up for departure automatically and this does not revert by the end of day tomorrow, please reach out to our support team as soon as possible. If you have changed your mind and want to depart, you can still opt in to do so. Additionally, Last Call will be available as usual for those of you who aren’t able to sign up for Departure before the deadline. We will be monitoring closely ahead of the Departure window closing and will continue working on a fix to prevent future instances of this issue. Thank you for your patience.//Raz

Store Update 1.37.0

Raiders!Store Update 1.37.0 is going live right now on all platforms with two new colour variants for the Driftcoat outfit - black/green and red. You will get them automatically if you already own the skin, no restart required. We have seen your feedback about the Seeker Grenade feeling weaker since last week’s update and we have been investigating the issue. We noticed an unintended effect from a collision change on the projectiles and the team is working on a fix - we will let you know as soon as it’s ready. We have also been looking into your reports of being automatically signed up for Departure after completing the “Deal Damage” challenge (reaching 100,000 damage dealt). This is unintentional, and we’re working on a fix.Following last week's fix for the duplication glitch, we've been banning accounts that gained a significant advantage from exploiting it. That effort continues this week, similarly to how we handled it in February:Warnings for low-severity cases where abuse was limited.Removal of Coins and items tied to exploit activity.Suspensions for the severe cases, particularly, where exploit usage had a significant impact on the in-game economy or other players’ experience. Players who deliberately exploited the glitch but didn't gain a major advantage will not be suspended. And if you simply received a few items from someone who was duping, without knowingly exploiting the glitch yourself, you may receive a warning. Our goal is to only take action against those who significantly and deliberately abused the exploit, not to catch players who were incidentally affected. Thank you to everyone who reported the issue and continued to play according to the rules.See you Topside,//Ossen

Raiders! We have just pushed a hotfix on all platforms to mitigate a duplication issue as well as the UI bug in the Expedition screen that showed Skill Points instead of Mystery Rewards for players on their fourth Expedition. As we stated before regarding the use of exploits, we will continue issuing bans on accounts that have been gaining significant advantage. Restart your game to download. Thank you everyone for your reports and for playing by the rules. See you Topside,//Ossen

Live Update 1.36.0

Raiders! Your tentative alliance with the Nomads is progressing by the day. Nomads wander the streets of Speranza, bringing stories, valuable information, and loot to trade. As the ARC presence Topside ever increases in scale, making reliable friends has never been so important. The 1.36.0 update has just dropped, bringing bug fixes, QoL updates, matchmaking tweaks, new Expedition and Trials Season, and a crossover outfit from the virtual gameshow world of THE FINALS! What’s New?Expedition 4 - Zenith OutfitTrials Season 5 - Scorta OutfitSolo, Duo, and Trio MatchmakingARC Raiders & THE FINALS CrossoverStore Update - The Triumph SetStore RedesignSolo, Duo, and Trio MatchmakingFollowing your feedback on the Matchmaking survey published in May, we have implemented one of the most requested matchmaking features: We now track your playstyle separately for Solo, Duo, and Trio rounds, and match you accordingly.Say you are a friendly solo player, but your two squadmates always want to dominate in trios PvP. Before, being friendly solo could push you into more cooperative trio rounds, and playing PvP-focused in a trio could push you into more PvP-focused solo rounds - so changing squad size meant matchmaking took a bit to adjust. Now, there's no overlap. You'll be able to go from friendly questing and plant-picking in Solo rounds to adrenaline-fueled PvP Trio games (if that's how you usually play in those respective cases), by simply changing your squad size. The same holds for Duo - all three are tracked on their own.ARC Raiders & THE FINALS CrossoverComplete a set of Contracts in THE FINALS and unlock the Azimuth outfit and Archeologist backpack bundle in ARC Raiders. Inspired by explorers, Raiders, and Contestants who dare to chase new horizons beyond the stratosphere. This promotion is available from July 9th 3pm CEST until July 30th 3pm CEST before we flip it around, letting you earn the Azimuth bundle in THE FINALS by playing ARC Raiders. See you in the Arena... and The Rust Belt! Bug Fixes & Content UpdatesARCSignificantly increased the value of loot dropped by ARC Turbines.Dev note: We've heard your feedback that the ARC Turbine's loot was too low compared to the high effort required to take one down and we agree. That’s why we’ve decided to significantly increase the amount of loot from the ARC Turbine. Happy hunting!Fixed an issue where the ARC Turbine would sometimes disappear right after spawning in.Knockback from Queen & Matriarch stomps will no longer go through walls.CosmeticFixed a clipping issue for the Marco Outfit.Fixed an issue where the Bog Walker Set was missing new colour variants.Over the next few days, we will be issuing refunds to those of you who paid additional Raider Tokens to unlock the new colors. This should be an automated process, and does not require you to do anything. ItemsWeapons dropped on the ground now display their installed mods.ARC Turbine parts will no longer drop from Couriers. Higher-value items will now show up on the shelf in the Raider Den, even if you have large stacks of lower-value items that add up to a higher total value than the individual item.MapsFixed various spots where players could get stuck or clip through the terrain.Fixed several locations where players fell through the terrain on The Dam close to spawn bunkers.QuestsFixed an issue where the Quests tab could loop back to the 'Done' screen after claiming a reward and pressing ESC, preventing selection of a new quest.SocialThe Emote Wheel now updates availability while open, making it clearer when an emote can be used. UIFixed some German localization issues.Improved the Feeding Rewards section in the Scrappy Nest by removing the empty placeholder tile and clarifying messaging when no rewards are available or still pending.Fixed an issue where the HUD visibility option wasn't applied correctly at the start of the round.Fixed an issue where the Show/Hide Tooltip option with a controller in the Logbook stopped working after collapsing and expanding a quest entry. Known IssuesWe know some PC players may experience lower FPS than usual. While we investigate, please ensure your GPU drivers are up to date, or, if you’re still experiencing the issue, attempt rolling back to a previous driver version. We are investigating an ongoing issue where some XBOX players (particularly on Series S) are experiencing crashes. The Quick Wheel item selection may suddenly swap to another item on the Wheel when closing the Quick Wheel and re-opening it quickly. The Dolabra, Hullcracker and Rascal do not deal damage to training dummies on Practice Range. The throw animation may sometimes fail to play when attempting to detonate a Trigger ‘Nade immediately after throwing it.Some gadgets and throwables lack a “Cancel” button when preparing to throw them. The weapon swap animation may appear broken if weapon swapping right after vaulting.Player animations may appear broken when interrupting a search of the Baron Husk.Shredders float to the ceiling in some rooms of the Hidden Bunker.Leapers can jump through the ARC Turbine.Occasionally, the Access Capacitor Rack may spawn without interactable batteries. When picking up items, the pickup sound may not be the correct one. When bringing items that give Merits with you into a Raid, the items will wrongfully display a Merits icon.Shots taken while riding ARC may not register correctly. After a player is revived, some Augments’ health restoration effects no longer pause when taking damage. Some doors may allow player flashlights’ beams to pass through instead of blocking the emitted light. Some hairstyles may clip through the Reaver Outfit helmet. The Saltwalker outfit preview in the Forgotten Relics page may incorrectly contain two toggles for each element. We are aware of some clipping issues with the Triumph and Azimuth outfits.Old Ermal offers may appear to be available in the 'Acquire and Craft' menu (visual only).
